haha... thanks for the first part of your comment Ryan... and for the second too ;) ... I think the point is that I explain how I did it and when I have time I answer all the questions here.

The point is "teach" how to do this parser or basically any parser of web pages... not just write the source code here.

Is simple enough and all the functions that you could need are very well documented in php.net.

Well, the fact that the post was titled "Lady turning clockwise" is I think going to skew the perceptions of how people first view the animation. Myself, I saw the headline, then I looked at the woman and saw what the heading told me I was supposed to see, a lady turning clockwise, then I read the post and saw that it was supposed to be an optical illusion, and I was able to see it both ways. If you just showed the animation and the poll, without the power of suggestion being provided by your headline, then your survey results might match those of the original more closely.

I was mstified by this in the first instance, she was standing dead still. I looked right , left, closed one eye, then the other, stood on my head, pirouetted to get giddy. Bu no way, she doesn't move!

Then, an inspired thought, it must be Java! I lot of groahics needing motion use Java. Mine is n9ormally off. So I turned on Java, reloaded the page and waited. Java is sometimes slow to start.

But no, nothing. Maybe I need professional help, maybe a psychiatrist, electro shock.. "Neither my left brain nor my right brain are working, doc!".

Then a shadowy figure leaped into my mind, somthing old from the 60's that was adapted for the web - animated GIF maybe? ...hose falshing figures that can trigger a seizure in some people. So I turned that on, looked up, and there she was definitley spinning clockwise (or anticlockwise if you look from the floor up). Tne I looked down at my coffee, and back up, and there she was spinning VERY definitely anti-clockwise.

Mmm. Not sure my budget will stretch to a psychiatrist.

So I turned off GIF animation. That fixed it for sure. Shes motionless, not a flicker of movement. No worries now!

Would you be able to upgrade this parser further to be used for other sites, specifically www.google.in ?? If so, please do this; your parser is very helpful!

One more question ;)

In order not to get captcha that often is it better to keep the same session (cookie) or to open new one as often as possible.

Thanks again

Thanks for the quick response!

Is this tool (google parser) going to be available for download? I see download section but no source code yet :( I think it would be great php/curl maybe regex learning lesson.

I would like to develop something similar. It should run multiple queries in batch mode. It doesn't have to be fast but should be stable. In your experience, if the queries run with like 2,3 seconds timeout should I face the captcha? I would like to develop similar way for user to fill captcha input and continue with queries. The problem is that processing script should run in the background - not the same script that generates user interface.

Regards

Milan, you are right.
I use Curl library for the HTTP requests, with it I can use the same cookie for several GETs or POSTs.

To represent a session I just use the same cookie, when I want to start a new session I delete the old cookie and done.

Cheers

How do you ensure that saved cookie is for the same session? Actually what do you have to save in the cookies in order to continue search. I guess you use curl library?

I focus on the boobs on the left side, because the left side is lighter. She turns clockwise when I do that. This experiment can probably tell about sexual preferences too. :-P

Suraj, I use the same trick to see the turning in both directions!

On further thinking about my previous answer, I believe that the lady is not really spinning through 360˚. The 34 frames that I viewed show only a one-half rotation. Therefore, the designers of this illusion, have created a half revolution and then played it back in reverse thus simulating a complete rotation. In actual fact the lady is spinning CW for half a revolution and then CCW for the remaining half. So in fact she is actually rotating in both directions. The puzzle remains however as to why some of us see the CW rotation first and not the CCW rotation and vice-versa. I think that it depends on the frame of mind you are in when you first come across it.

Any takers on this theory and analysis?

I find that at first it turns CW for me and then if I stare at her feet, it suddenly turns CCW. I believe that the effect of turning CCW is the illusion because my frame by frame analysis shows that the figure is rotating right to left therefore CW. I'm using a MAC which has the 'Preview' application. Control click on the spinning lady and select 'Download Image'. Then open up the file with 'Preview'. It will show 34 image frames. Since I'm being so analytical and I was a physics teacher, I must be Left-brained or better yet Right-Left Brained because I can see both directions. It is very difficult however to explain the illusive CCW rotation....thinking numbers does seem to bring on the CCW motion...Hmmm.

You are right gabrix but I used badblocks to prevent the creation of filesystem over some bad block of the device.

But now that I'm think about that, I replicate the method that I used to create an encrypted partition to create a encrypted file. I don't know if badblocks can detect bad sectors when the device used is a file not a real device... may be not...

Thanks for your comment.
